I’m In. Are You?–Blog by Jon Schloemer, Director of Compensation and Benefits, Fleet Farm, Action Group Board Member
We’ve turned the corner, a new year has begun, and it’s time for The Action Group’s Annual Employer Benefits Survey.
In my 2017 blog, I emphasized that the Survey takes less than an hour to complete, and it provides value to employers in the form of comprehensive benchmarks, unique insights, and networking and collaboration with other employers in a confidential setting. Those things are all still true.
In my 2018 blog, I highlighted three things that I especially appreciate about the Survey: The fact that it is by employers, for employers; that it provides valuable insights to support strategic and tactical decisions; and that it is both timely and well timed. I continue to value those things.
Now in 2019, my message is simple: “I’m in.”
When I say that, I’m speaking on two levels:
First, I’m in on completing the Survey. My calendar is full, and my to-do list is long, but each year, I place a high priority on the Survey. I’ll make time to input my answers and get it done by the deadline — no question.
Second, I’m all in on employer collaboration. Unless I’ve missed it, health care and benefits haven’t gotten any easier in the past year. There are no “silver bullets” and no easy fixes. I strongly agree with management guru Kenneth H. Blanchard when he says, “None of us is as smart as all of us.” I benefit from learning from you, my peers, regarding not only the what, but the why and the how. What have you done to improve the value and affordability of health care for your business and employees? Why did you go down one path and not another? How are you making the most of opportunities? How are you tackling challenges, and how is that working for you? Your perspective is valuable to me, because you aren’t trying to sell me anything, and I know you’ll give it to me straight.
So, yes. I’m in. I’m willing to share my experience and insights to help you, and I hope you’ll do the same. The Action Group Annual Employer Benefits Survey enables rich, confidential, unbiased information sharing that allows all of us be better. Are you in?
